What Issue Will Umbilicoplasty Resolve?

Umbilicoplasty can fix three frequent problems that result in belly button distortion: excessive piercing scar tissue, the belly button stretching out horizontally after childbirth, and hernias.

Stretching after Pregnancy

The size and appearance of a woman’s belly button can change during a typical pregnancy. The belly button frequently seems horizontally extended, making it look shorter and wider than it did before becoming pregnant. Some women develop tissue fusion beneath the belly button, which makes it protrude and resemble a “outie.” Both of these problems can be resolved with an umbilicoplasty.

Piercing Problems

Due to a recent or previous piercing, some people may develop scar tissue along their belly button. The belly button’s overall look may be harmed by scarring from piercings, depending on their severity. If the scar tissue is located along the thin ring of skin surrounding the belly button, an umbilicoplasty can treat the problem. The need for a scar revision operation may arise if the scarring looks to be any higher.

What Is The Duration Of Umbilicoplasty?

Although the time required for each treatment may vary, the majority of umbilicoplasty procedures can be completed in under an hour.

The surgery is performed in the comfort of our Cranberry Township office under local anesthesia. It is usually completed in less than one hour. Most patients report little or no discomfort after the surgery and bruising, swelling and pain are usually quite mild. It’s important to remember that you will need someone to drive you home the day of the procedure and you are encouraged to rest for the first 12 hours after the procedure.
